Adverse Childhood Experience and Risky Behaviour Study
Currently, Dr. Craig and the Supporting Youth Development lab, alongside the research team at Syl Apps Youth Centre, are conducting a file review study focused on understanding the profiles and outcomes for youth who attended the secure treatment program. This study is focused on the role of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and its association to aggressive and other risky behaviour (e.g., self-harm, suicidality) prior to treatment, and during treatment. This unique partnership provides opportunities to better understand the risk factors and clinical implications of secure inpatient treatment, a currently understudied topic. This project is currently funded by a SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant (#892-2023-3105).
